Dumpiling--Chinese Food

    As the beginning of a new year, the spring festival is the most important traditional event in China. As the biggest part of the celebration, every family will prepare the dinner before the spring festival by their full heart and soul. Thousand years ago, the traditional Chinese families are all farmers. Their family income depends on the weather and the frequency of the raining. Therefore, the family income is not stable. Every winter after the harvest, every family will try their best to prepare a big dinner to show the richness of their family. This kind of celebration continuous for thousand years and becomes the most important traditional event in China.
   Usually, the spring festival eve dinner is including fish, beef, and pork. As the traditional, the dumplings should be made before a new year start. Chinese people believe that the dumplings indicate the following years will be great harvest year. In some part of China, people like to add some lucky sign inside the dumplings. The people who eat the dumplings with the lucky sign will have the lucky in the following year.
   Actually, the dumplings do not only play an important role in the spring festival eve dinner, dumplings also act the main character during the fifteen days New Year celebration. Chinese people would enjoy another big dinner of dumplings at the fifth day of the celebration. Thousand years ago, the long winter leads the lack of vegetables and meat. People at that time try their best to save the food for the winter. Hence, the dumplings are the best way for this purpose.
